The Chair of Timber Engineering is part of the Institute of Steel and Timber Construction. The focus of teaching and research is the resource efficient use of the renewable material wood.

The Chair of Timber Engineering is responsible for teaching and research on timber structures. In the field of teaching, basics of timber engineering as well as knowledge in building ecology, design and constructing with composites are imparted. The research is focussed on the resource efficient use of timber in buildings and other applications.
