Workshop
The Chair of Timber Engineering and Construction Design possesses workshop facilities for processing of wood and metal as well as for creation of fibre-reinforced plastics. The purpose of the workshop is the manufacturing of specimens and prototypes related with the research.
Equipment of the workshop
Besides common tools for wood and metal processing, the following machines are available in the workshop:
- Planing machine (producer: BELA; type: ADM 260; max. width: 240 mm; max. max. planing thickness: 3 mm)
- Circular saw (producer: Bosch; type: PTS 10; max. cutting thickness: 75 mm; mitre square: +/- 60°)
- Band saw (producer: HOLZKRAFT; type: HBS 351; max. dimensions of workpart: (h x b) 200 x 346 mm)
- Grinding machine (producer: Bernardo; type: BDSM 250; size of grinding band: 390 x 150 mm; disk grinder: 204 x 362 mm, 0° - 45°)
- Drilling machine (producer: EIKO; type: B2; max. dimensions of workpart: 340 x 280 x 750 mm)
- Drilling machine (producer: WMW; type: WT 10-1; excavation depth: 100mm)
- Grinding machine (producer: HME-Werk; type: Typ 2/115 S)
- Steam chamber (inner space: 1550 x 300 x 990 mm; steamer: ROEGI DA 800 (9kW), max. steam temperature: 110°C)
- Tools for wood moulding (tubes; Ø 150, 312, 398 mm)
- Vertical hot press for wood densification (max. force: 560 kN/ 1000kN (tension/ compression); inner space (l x b x h): 400 x 400 x 850 mm (without heating plates); max. temperature of heating plates: 200°C)
- Horizontal hot press for wood densification (max. force: 200 kN; inner space (l x b x h): 300 x 200 x 60 mm; max. temperature: 200°C)
For producing large specimens and prototypes the ressources of the carpentry of TU Dresden are used or specialized companies are contracted.
