After successfully enrolling, it is useful to prepare for your upcoming study start. TU Dresden provides various options for this.

For an engineering course, in particular, it is helpful to refresh your mathematics, physics and chemistry skills. Every year at the start of the winter semester, the School of Science at TU Dresden organises bridging courses for school-leavers in chemistry, physics and mathematics.
These bridging courses help to directly prepare future engineering, business and science students for their studies. The emphasis is on repeating and reinforcing the areas of the syllabus that are required for first-year students, but which experience has shown to be the most difficult to apply.
Every new student whose course includes physics, chemistry or mathematics can attend. Participation is free and registration is not necessary.
The timing of the individual sessions is largely coordinated, so that it is possible to attend several courses.

First semester introduction (FSI)
For first semester students, important first semester introduction (FSI) events for the various courses begin a week before the official start of lectures. During this week, first semester students are given lots of important information about their course. Many faculty events are intended to help new students learn about the facilities on campus and in town, and attendance at the official welcome event at the end of this week is compulsory.
