As part of the interdisciplinary module "City and Landscape in an Urban Context", students developed urban and open space planning concepts for the redesign of the urban space on St. Petersburger Straße. The students of Architecture and Landscape Architecture worked together in mixed teams in intensive workshops on six dates from April to May 2024.
St. Petersburger Straße is a 1.6 km long, busy and centrally located mobility axis in Dresden's city center from the 1960s. In many places, these main roads present themselves as insurmountable barriers and dead urban spaces. At the same time, however, they also represent an enormous, in parts still undiscovered spatial resource for the city, which can be used in the future for the common good and for urban development.
Based on four future-oriented theses, St. Peter Park maximum blue-green, St. Peter City maximum urban, St. Peter Connector maximum networked and St. Peter Incubator maximum flexible, the students developed urban planning and landscape architecture approaches for the redesign of the street space. We look forward to presenting the resulting models to you within the "Think Tank Urban Space St. Petersburger Straße" exhibition.
