This 82nd UNEP/UNESCO/BMU short course is organized this autumn by the Centre for International Postgraduate Studies of Environmental Management (CIPSEM) at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of TU Dresden. The 31 participants from a total of 17 countries are currently learning remotely and yet together for six weeks. The course focuses on Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM), the use and preservation of this vital element. The opening ceremony on September 6th, 2021 was digitally attended by 45 participants, including trainees, organizers, guests and lecturers. The course attendees were welcomed by Prof. Stamm (Speaker of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, TU Dresden), Lola Renée Müller (Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety), Ralph Wollmann (German Environment Agency) and Dr. Patricia Gallo (CIPSEM course coordinator), among others. The importance of the CIPSEM program, the intercultural exchange of experiences and the goals for sustainable development in relation to the course topic were underlined.
The availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation and unrestricted access is the sixth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The course helps build capacities to protect, monitor and purify available water resources in their local area. Further details about the course and the content can be found on the CIPSEM website.
