The global consequences of the war in Ukraine are becoming increasingly clear and show how closely interlinked and interdependent global supply chains are. Putin is deliberately using the prevention of grain deliveries from Ukraine, Europe's breadbasket, as a means of exerting pressure - with fatal consequences for countries in the global South.
Rising prices, supply bottlenecks and delays are exacerbating the already tense food situation for many people. What options does the European Union have to counter this situation? How will prices develop in the long term? What does this mean for dealing with hunger? What long-term strategies can help to ensure food security?
