The first works by the three S+T+ARTS artists Johanna Bruckner, Carolyn Kirschner and Theda Nilsson-Eicke are already finding their way into the Office for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections gallery. The opening will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 6:30 pm. You can find the exact program here.
S+T+ARTSEc(h)o Showing" presents exemplary works by the artists Johanna Bruckner, Carolyn Kirschner and Theda Nilsson-Eicke, who have been completing artistic research residencies at the Office for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections of the TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) for thirteen months since December 2024 as part of the S+T+ARTS Ec(h)o Residency. The interfaces of Science, Technology & Arts, S+T+ARTS for short, will guide the artists during their exploration of a wide range of current research topics - they will conduct artistic research into the relationship between man and machine, the socio-cultural significance of the zebrafish and human perception in the context of immersive and digitized worlds.
The characters Gerhilde, Schwertleite, Siegrune, Grimgerde and Rossweisse from the play Die Walküre, which Theda Nilsson-Eicke conceived for the Schauspielhaus Köln in 2020 freely based on Richard Wagner's second part of Der Ring des Nibelungen, welcome visitors to the Görges-Bau as an impressive reception committee. The adaptation of the stage characters for the show is already part of Theda Nilsson-Eicke's artistic research at the Dresden University of Technology (TUD) and refers to her exploration of questions about "digital evil", which she is working on during her S+T+ARTS residency "Modelling the Mind" and examining the fluid transitions between reality and virtuality.
