On November 26, 2025, Dr. Johannes Feldbauer was awarded the Dr. Walter Seipp Prize of the Commerzbank Foundation during a ceremonial award presentation. The prize recognizes his dissertation entitled:Drinking water reservoirs in a changing climate: Mechanistic simulations of water quality as a contribution to the management strategy.
The award has been presented to young scientists at TU Dresden for outstanding doctoral theses for more than 25 years and is endowed with 4,000 euros.
Dr. Feldbauer is a Research Associate with Prof. Thomas U. Berendonk at the Chair of Limnology and conducts research into regional climate adaptation. In his dissertation, he carried out a practice-oriented simulation study on the effects of climate change on drinking water reservoirs. In addition, together with 12 international co-authors, he developed a globally used software suitable for teaching purposes, enabling ensemble simulations with five hydrophysical models. Prof. Berendonk praises him as an "exceptional scientist of the next generation".
In 2022, Dr. Feldbauer already achieved 2nd place in the Schwoerbel-Benndorf Young Scientist Award of the German Society for Limnology (DGL).
Congratulations!
