Dendro­chronology

is a scientific method for determining the age of wooden samples to the exact year on the basis of a comparison of the annual ring width measurement series of a sample with an annual ring width chronology.

Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) uses electron beams and electrical signals rather than light to image samples. The manipulability of electrons is used to achieve high resolutions (magnifications).
