The Chair introduces itself
The research and teaching at the Chair of Biodiversity and Nature Conservation is centred in the fields of biodiversity, nature conservation as well as the vegetation and plant communities. A strong focus is set on the topics of phytodiversity and conservation strategies under the conditions of sustainable land use management and global change.
More about us
The chair of biodiversity and nature conservation disposes of extensive knowledge and experiences in the analysis of causes which form the basis of the characteristic and the change of biological variety, as well as in the investigation and assessment of conflicts of utilisation and synergies from the point of view of the nature conservation and the forestry.
To the method spectrum belong the whole range of theoretical analyses, observant open land investigations, to strictly controlled greenhouse experiments and small-scale to large-scale open land experiments. The research is interdisciplinary in strong measure and is aimed internationally, and the professorship is variously linked up nationally and internationally. The activities find expression in the treatment of externally founded projects, in an intensive publication activity, in a big number of supervised theses as well as in a huge number of scientific cooperation.
