Description

The conference venue “Dresden University of Fine Arts” is located in the city centre of Dresden. The building was constructed between 1891 and 1894 on the Brühl Terrace in the Neo-Renaissance style. With its glass dome – also known as the "lemon squeezer" because of its shape – the building is a prominent feature in Dresden’s city.

The conference venue is located in the city centre of Dresden. There are many hotels in different price categories. In view of the limited number of participants we have not made any hotel advanced-reservations. The participants are free to choose.

Travelling

• Dresden Airport
  Dresden Airport is connected to the international airports of Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich (Switzerland).

• Travelling from Dresden Airport to the city
  • Public transport
    The airport has a station in the basement of the terminal, where S-Bahn S2 suburban train leaves for the city. After 20 minutes, you can reach Dresden’s main station (Dresden Hauptbahnhof).
    Tickets are available at the information desk (Flughafen-Information) in the airport rivals hall and from ticket machines in the train stations. The price is € 2.70 for adults. A day ticket for public transport in Dresden / zone 10 costs € 6.90 for one person (Tageskarte).

    The S-Bahn S2 runs twice an hour to and from Dresden Airport.

  • Taxi
    A taxi ride to the centre of Dresden (Altstadt) takes 20 minutes and costs about
    € 35. The taxi rank at Dresden Airport is located directly in front of the Arrivals hall.

• From Dresden Main Station to conference venue and most hotels
  • Public transport
    Trams are available between Dresden main station (Dresden Hauptbahnhof) and the conference venue.
    Tram lines 3 and 7 run from Dresden main station to synagogue. Lines 8 and 9 run from Dresden main station to Theaterplatz. From both stops it is about 5 minutes to the conference venue and to the hotels Hilton Inside Dresden and Amedia Plaza Hotel.
  • Taxi
    A taxi ride from Dresden main station to the conference venue costs about € 15.
  • Walk
    About 2,000 metres, approximately 25 minutes to walk. Follow Prager Straße, then via Altmarkt and Neumarkt. The conference venue is located behind the Frauenkirche, the dominate landmark of Dresden.
