5th Tharandt Forest Protection Colloquium on October 28-29, 2025
After a three-year break, the fifth edition of the Tharandt Forest Protection Colloquium took place on October 28 and 29, 2025, which was primarily intended to provide a stage for external forest protection experts and current, practice-relevant topics. The program was accordingly packed, with topics ranging from insect-borne pest organisms to climatic and silvicultural challenges and to issues of forest fire protection and innovative monitoring methods.
The approximately 130 participants came from twelve federal states and Austria, and represented a wide variety of different institutions, including state and municipal forestry companies, district offices, municipal and national park administrations, research institutes, universities, ministries, private companies and a fire department. This diversity was also reflected in the intensive discussions and lively professional exchange on both days.
We would like to thank all speakers for their informative contributions and their willingness to discuss, as well as all participants for their great interest and committed participation, which once again made the colloquium a successful platform for interdisciplinary dialog in forest protection.
The colloquium presentations are available for download here.
