Facilities
The DendroLab provides state-of-the-art facilities for conducting tree-ring based studies. In addition to equipment for sample collection and preparation, diverse measurement systems for tree-ring, wood anatomical, and anthracological analyses are available. Wood density can be measured using a ‘Dendro2003’ system in Tharandt. Excellent microscopy facilities, including various light microscopes (e.g., Zeiss Axio Scan 2.1 slide scanner) and electron microscopes, can also be used. The lab performs cellulose extractions, which serve as the basis for subsequent isotopic analyses.
