Ph.D. thesis award to Andrei Popa

At the annual meeting of the Association for Tree-Ring Research (ATR), two excellent doctoral theses were awarded the ATR Best Ph.D. Thesis Award in the field of tree-ring research. Alongside a thesis by Sugam Aryal from Erlangen University, Andrei Popa received the award for his thesis entitled "Adaptation and Resilience of Norway Spruce Forest Ecosystems in the Northern Part of the Eastern Carpathians in the Context of Climate Change". During a research stay in our group in 2022, two papers included in his thesis were conceptualized and later written in collaboration with Marieke van der Maaten-Theunissen and Ernst van der Maaten.
