Welcome to our webpage!
Research and teaching at the Chair of Forest Growth and Woody Biomass Production focus on a central theme in forestry: forest growth. Our work places special emphasis on understanding the complex interactions between tree growth and ecophysiological parameters, environmental conditions, and forest management. Beyond today’s forests, we are also interested in the composition and dynamics of forests in the past.

Profile
Our research focuses on how forest ecosystems respond to environmental changes such as ongoing climate change, and on how forest management can mitigate potential negative impacts. In addition, we reconstruct the forest and vegetation history of the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge) using subfossil wood and charcoal remains.
Teaching activities are closely linked to our research.
