First General Meeting of COST Action EU-PoTaRCh in Prague

From 4 to 7 March 2024, the 1^st General Meeting of the COST Action CA22155  EU-PoTaRCh (‘Network for forest by-products charcoal, resin, tar, potash’) took place in Prague. This exceptional event initiated the creation of a network for knowledge and experience exchange among scientists, traditional and contemporary producers, and enthusiasts of PoTaRCh products. The meeting was attended by over 70 COST Action members from 32 countries, and focused on the heritage, archaeology, environment, identification, and new applications of PoTaRCh products. Grit Neubauer attended the meeting and presented a poster on her PhD research on the historical development of forests in the Erzgebirge based on a systematic investigation of historical charcoal kilns within the project ArchaeoTin (Interreg Sachsen-Tschechien 2021-2027).
The 2^nd General Meeting of the COST Action EU-PoTaRCh is scheduled for 2025, and will be convened by the Poznań University of Life Sciences, Poland.
