Camillo-Schneider-Prize 2025 awarded to Katharina and Jonathan
At this year’s annual meeting of the Deutsche Dendrologische Gesellschaft in Frankfurt am Main, the 2025 Camillo-Schneider-Prize was awarded to two outstanding dissertations successfully defended at TU Dresden. The prize went to Dr. Katharina Liepe and Dr. Jonathan Kormann.
Jonathan was recognized for his dissertation “Growth and climate sensitivity of Northern red oak (Quercus rubra L.) provenances in Central Europe”, while Katharina received the award for her dissertation “Re-utilizing forest genetic trials to inform reforestation during a time of rapid climate change”. Both theses were carried out at the Thünen Institute of Forest Genetics and the Chair of Forest Growth and Woody Biomass Production under the supervision of Dr. Mirko Liesebach and Prof. Dr. Marieke van der Maaten-Theunissen. Each study addresses pressing challenges of climate change, ranging from the suitability of different red oak provenances to the role of genetic trials in future reforestation efforts.
Congratulations to Katharina and Jonathan!
