Start of studies in winter semester 2025/26

Welcome to the Chair of Human Geography at the Institute of Geography at TU Dresden! We welcome all students who are starting their studies with us this winter and all those who are back from the semester break! On this page you will find important information about the start of your studies and the courses offered by the Chair of Human Geography.

Depending on which degree program you are studying, you will have to take different modules in the coming winter semester. You can view the respective modules in the study regulations. You can find them here for the Bachelor's degree course in Geography and here for the teacher training courses: Oberschule & Gymnasium. Teacher training students who enrolled before 2023 should note that the old regulations still apply to them.

Lectures and seminars are offered in most modules. You can find out what these are specifically in the timetable of the Institute of Geography, which is broken down by academic year. Bachelor students can find it here and teacher training students here. Once you have selected your modules and the corresponding courses, you still need to register for the respective courses on OPAL. There you will find an overview page of the Chair of Human Geography, from which you can access the individual courses. The courses of the Junior Chair for Sustainable Urban Futures are also listed there. This page will be continuously updated so that you can register for the courses from 06.10.2025. The registration period for the human geography courses starts at 8 pm, for the urban geography courses at 8:30 pm. There you will also find all information on the time and place of the respective courses. Please note that all courses are not available until the beginning of October.
