Valuable Information about the Course of Geography
Already in ancient times people were interested in their environment and sketched it on maps. No later than the 15th century, the time of the great explorers began. Unfortunately, geographers will no longer encounter unknown continents and larger islands.
Today, geography is the science that, on the one hand, deals with the physical composition of the earth's surface and its changes in space and time and, on the other hand, studies the space-changing effects of human activities. It is therefore positioned at the interface between the natural sciences and the human and social sciences. Geographers attempt to record, describe and explain the structures, processes and interactions in the geosphere. In doing so, they work closely with reprensentatives of numerous neighbouring sciences.
There is one thing we have to say first: The study of geography has only a few intersections with the teaching of geography at school!
