Project Workshop in Wrocław – "SUSTAINABLE SUBURBIA (SUSI)"
The team behind the "Sustainable Suburbia" research project
Sustainable Suburbia (SuSi) is a joint research project of the Junior Professorship for Sustainable Urban Futures and the Institute of Sociology at the University of Wrocław. The project, which is funded by external grants, began in January 2026.
The first project workshop took place on May 18 and 19, 2026, at the University of Wrocław. During the workshop, fundamental conceptual framework conditions as well as initial preliminary findings on the project’s central thematic categories were presented and discussed. The workshop also provided an opportunity for a fruitful professional and personal exchange, allowing participants to get to know one another better and identify initial—and sometimes unconventional—common ground.
Special thanks go to the team at the University of Wrocław for their outstanding preparation, the warm atmosphere, and the excellent supporting program. The clarity gained regarding the next steps and the shared direction now form a solid foundation and source of motivation for the work ahead.
The project team is now fully assembled and brings together interdisciplinary expertise to address the complex challenges of suburban development in the context of multiple crises.
