Photogrammetry and Geosensor Systems at the 46th Scientific-Technical Annual Conference of the DGPF in Darmstadt
Staff members from the Chair of Photogrammetry and the Junior Professorship for Geosensor Systems at TU Dresden participated in the 46th Scientific-Technical Annual Conference of the German Society for Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Geoinformation e.V. (DGPF). The event took place from March 25 to 27, 2026, on the campus of TU Darmstadt. The conference offered scientists, developers, and practitioners the opportunity to attend technical sessions, company presentations, and numerous poster presentations, as well as to exchange ideas on the latest aspects and research topics in the fields of photogrammetry, remote sensing, and geoinformatics.
This year, special recognition was given to the scientific publication by TU Dresden researchers B.Sc. Marie Weber, Dr.-Ing. Katja Richter, and Dr.-Ing. Anne Bienert. Their contribution to the conference proceedings titled “Classifying Morphologically Similar Tree Species in Central European Forests Using Geometric Bark-Structure Features Derived from Terrestrial Laser Scanning” was awarded the Remote Sensing Prize by the Nico Rüpke Foundation and the DGPF.
As every year, the Karl Kraus Young Researchers Award 2026 was also presented during the conference. Among the submissions was the master’s thesis by Paul Hindorf on the topic “Combined Use of Artificial Intelligence and Time-Lapse Photogrammetry for Robust Geomorphological Monitoring.” Since November 2025, Paul Hindorf has been a research associate at the Junior Professorship for Geosensor Systems at TU Dresden.
In the technical session of the Mobile Mapping working group, TU Dresden presented the paper “Improving Trajectory Accuracy and Point Cloud Quality of Handheld Laser Scanners in Forests through RTK-GNSS Integrated SLAM.” Contributors included Junior Professor Anette Eltner and Carolin Rünger, who has been working as a research associate at the Junior Professorship for Geosensor Systems since March 2025.
