New Employee at the Lohrmann Observatory

Starting October 1, 2025, Dr. Huanchen Hu will join us at the Lohrmann Observatory as a DAAD PRIME fellow for 1.5 years. She will spend one of those years as a visiting researcher in Australia.

Dr. Hu is coming from the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy in Bonn and is conducting research on pulsar timing using next-generation radio telescopes, namely the MeerKAT telescope, the Five-Hundred-Meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST), and the future Square Kilometre Array. These radio telescopes will enable new tests of the general theory of relativity, the equation of state of superdense matter in neutron stars, the Standard Model of elementary particles, and the detection of a gravitational wave background.
