guest lecture on Recent Floods in Nepal: The Impact of Climate Change on the Himalayas and its Water System

The lecture will be given by Surendra Gautam, HSE alumnus and Director of AWO International, Regional Office South Asia, who will be visiting TU Dresden and has kindly offered to share first-hand insights into the recent Bhote Koshi flash flood in Nepal, its humanitarian impacts, and the wider implications of climate change for the Himalayas and its water systems.

The discussion will cover the disaster's impacts, the current needs of affected communities, and priorities for recovery and resilience, with particular attention to the links between climate change, water systems, and rising disaster risks in the Himalayan region.
