2nd international workshop “Conservation strategies for freshwater mussels”
From March 09th to 10th2021 the 2nd international workshop „Conservation strategies for freshwater mussels” took place as an online-event. More than 150 experts from 19 nations participated and discussed their work.
It became clear that the freshwater pearl mussel is still one of the most common target species for conservation efforts and that large mussel populations are still declining across Europe. Fortunately, the attention to other mussel species and the topic in general is also increasing. However, basic information on distribution and ecology is still the subject of current research for the other species.
