Old batteries, new opportunities? Investigating the potential of end-of-life e-bike batteries.

As part of a research project on behalf of the GRS Batterien foundation, we are looking into the potential of end-of-use e-bike batteries. According to Zweirad-Industrie-Verband e.V., the sales figures for e-bikes are rising steadily. In 2022, the market share of electric bikes in the overall bicycle market was already 48%. The rising sales figures are accompanied by increased quantities of end-of-use batteries that need to be recycled.
