Aim of the project is the development of methods to estimate contaminated site treatment periods. The "Handbook of contaminated site treatment" of the Freistaat Sachsen (LfULG 1999) has proven itself as common framework for action. Within the scope of the project it is considered to examine the extent to which the methodological notes concerning the determination of the remediation goal and -period are sufficient or whether these may have to be extended. Furthermore, a PC-based tool shall be developed, which calculates the remediation period of a project by entering data from further investigations. This tool includes the methods soil vapour extraction, pump and treat, ISCO, thermal rehabilitation and air sparging.
