Project description:
For the first time, two-stage biogas reactors should be used to produce purified form of propionic acid and butyric acid in addition to methane. Propionic and butyric acid-induced inhibitory effects in the methane level are to be prevented with the help of direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET). In addition, novel supplements are to be developed, which for the first time specialize in strengthening DIET.
This should make it possible to draw secondary valuable substances from anaerobic microbiomes instead of pure cultures.
