The aim of the project is the cooperation of the Institute for Waste Management and Contaminated Sites of the Dresden University of Technology with the Department of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Engineering Technology of the Al-Balqa'Applied University in Jordan regarding the implementation of special waste management primary measures in selected Jordanian industrial processes. The focus of the intended investigations is the identification of relevant Jordanian industrial sectors, which represent a high potential for saving energy and possibly other resources (e.g. water), the avoidance of waste and a reduction of environmentally harmful emissions. As results, a contribution to the prevention of environmental and health risks on site as well as a know-how and technology transfer between the producing and the target country are aimed at. In addition to the relevant Jordanian industrial sectors and universities, functional and decision-makers in the legislature are also to be involved. As part of the realization of the fact-finding mission, Dr. Wünsch and Dr. Schingnitz traveled to the Jordanian capital Amman in May 2013. The aim of the trip was to hold talks with partners from science and industry to identify relevant Jordanian industries for project implementation. For this purpose, appointments were made at Al-Balqa'Applied University in Amman and the Jordan Chamber of Industry. In addition, four plant visits were carried out in relevant Jordanian industries.
