project description:
The project TIWaSiC aims at the developing and improving of the professional competencies of Siberian universities in the field of industrial waste management. The central components of the project involve the establishment of a training course for employees of waste management companies, the development of services (eg, laboratory analysis of waste samples) and the intensive collaboration of university, authorities and company representatives in the waste management. The role of BaikalWasma Centre at the University of Irkutsk, as an already existing, central contact point for waste management issues in the region, shall be strengthened.
Within the project, incentive systems for industrial measures of waste prevention and resource conservation in companies have to be developed in collaboration with the authorities. This is intended to support companies, which educate its employees and implement measures to prevent and recover waste. In addition, the developed training course for self-evaluation will be offered twice during the term of the project and serves as a method of strengthening the professional competencies of employees of companies and authorities.
Generally, the project TIWaSiC corresponds with national and regional demands for sustainable development of waste management through the implementation of extra occupational, demand-oriented and industry-specific training courses for employees of companies concerning adequate environment protection measures.
