Project description:
With the entry into force of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (Elektrogesetz) on August 31, 2005, extensive changes in the management of waste electrical equipment (WEEE) came into force in the Federal Republic. According to this law, WEEE is collected separately nationwide and recycled to a large extent. The producers now bear the project responsibility. This research project is concerned with the scope for design allowed by the ElektroG.
The main research topics are as follows:
- Requirements for the certification of first handlers
- Requirements for the documentation at the first handler and the reporting procedures to first handlers for the monitoring of the quotas
- Requirements for the determination of the individual shares of WEEE in the total amount of WEEE per type of equipment
