Research on the pulse of time
The acquisition and processing of research projects has played a central role since the founding of the institute. The thematic spectrum of scientific investigations is wide-ranging. It ranges from biological and thermal processes of waste treatment, recycling, and the use of biogas to the investigation and remediation of contaminants in groundwater and soil, as well as the computer-aided modeling of relevant pollutant transport processes.

Research at the Institute of Waste Management and Circular Economy
The Institute's various fields of work and teaching areas are waste and recycling management with all aspects of the biological, thermal and mechanical treatment of materials produced within different types of waste, including the development of new recycling management concepts.
Research on these topics is carried out in individual working groups. Further details can be found in the Research Fields section or in the information on the profile of the Chair of Waste Management and Circular Economy.
The following pages list both current and past projects at the Institute. Detailed descriptions are provided for each individual project.
