Inventory / potential analysis of waste streams MA according to the waste hierarchy
The existing and available waste streams in Mannheim should be scrutinized without impairing legally compliant waste management. On this basis, it is necessary to evaluate which disposal routes are currently being used. This inventory helps us to present an overall picture of linear and circular waste management. The inventory of the waste value stream cadastre is available (see document: Waste value stream cadastre Roche RDG_20250507). The analysis forms the basis for further scrutiny of the current status.
The existing disposal route should then be compared in relation to the waste hierarchy (5 levels). (see illustration):
In addition to the reuse of products, the classic mechanical recycling of waste is currently the most common way of closing material and therefore carbon or value stream cycles. For this reason, it would be necessary to analyze and examine existing waste streams at the Mannheim site with regard to this need. This process and examination can be used to narrow down new building blocks for circular management from various, even mixed material and waste streams and to clarify recycling options. For this purpose, the individual waste streams should be grouped according to the waste hierarchy and then evaluated for a possible recycling or reuse option. These building blocks are then used in the value chain to identify new approaches for the introduction of possible circular material management at the Mannheim site.
Step 1: Waste value stream register: available (completed)
Step 2: Evaluation of the legal framework conditions and circular potential for the management of the waste material stream (strategic evaluation)
Step 3: Cost analysis of compliance requirements
Step 4: Mannheim waste management: waste cycle potential analysis (optional)
