Brief description:
The lecture provides basic hydrochemical knowledge, in particular theoretical principles, which are necessary to understand and calculate reaction equilibria in aquatic systems. In addition to the lecture, seminars are offered to practice and deepen the calculation methods covered and a practical course, which includes a graded portfolio as a further examination achievement.
Contents:
Structure and properties of water
Concentrations and activities
Colligative properties
Law of mass action
Gas-water distribution equilibria
Acid-base equilibria
Precipitation and dissolution of salts
Calco-carbonic equilibrium
Redox equilibria
Complex formation equilibria
