Preface

The Institute of Hydrology and Meteorology at the Dresden University of Technology arranges several field trips to compliment student’s training. The topics provided by the Chair of Hydrology range from hydrological aspects of the Dresden region and extend to the high mountain hydrology of the Alps ( Hydrological Field Trip 2022).
The scientific and administrative tutoring of the students is carried out by the staff of the Chair of Hydrology and by experts on site.

These field trips compliment and deepen the knowledge acquired during the lectures and course work. Another significant aspect is to give students a preview on practical application fields of hydrology. Interdisciplinary work aspects are stressed. Students are given the chance to meet professional hydrologists and earth scientists during their day to day routine work, and are able to demonstrate exemplarily career paths in hydrology. Students are expected to prepare report of their learning experiences during field trips.
