INOWAS organised the 26th PhD Seminar for Hydrogeologists in Dresden
The 26th PhD seminar for hydrogeologists took place from 02nd to 4th March 2016 at Technische Universität Dresden. In total 15 participants accepted the invitation of the Junior Research Group “INOWAS”. After a short icebreaker on the 2nd March, participants met for oral and poster presentations in Pirna on the following day. The topics of the presentations were broad and interesting discussions took place.
On Friday, we visited the water works in Hosterwitz where induced river bank filtration from the river Elbe in combination with managed aquifer recharge via infiltration basins is used to produce tab water. Finally, some of the participants visited the famous Bastei in Saxony Swiss in the afternoon.
This year’s PhD meeting showed that there is a huge interest among PhD students, who work in the field of hydrogeology, to share their experiences among each other and to socialize with other young researchers. Additionally, it offers a great and unique possibility to present and discuss unfinished work and ideas.
In the name of all participants, we would like to thank FH-DGGV for their friendly support which contributed to the successful PhD seminar. For the next meeting, we are still looking for a host.
