Our TERESA project presented at the BMBF CLIENT II Conference 2024 in Berlin
Last week, on 28-29 November 2024, our project TERESA (Urban Water Management in Kazakh Cities) was one of the 14 projects selected to be represented at the CLIENT II Conference 2024 in Berlin. CLIENT is a funding program initiated 14 years ago by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). As part of CLIENT II Programme, a total of 81 joint research projects were implemented in 32 countries in the areas of resources, energy, climate, the environment and development. Due to its extensive reach and unique format, CLIENT II was one of the most appealing frameworks for international collaboration in which the INOWAS Research Group had the privilege to participate.
Among the projects funded under the CLIENT II Programme was also TERESA, a collaboration between Technische Universität Dresden, itwh - Institut für technisch-wissenschaftliche Hydrologie GmbH and Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan. The project aimed at improving the urban water management in Astana by using and enhancing natural processes like retention, filtration, evapotranspiration, infiltration to reduce stormwater runoff and increase groundwater recharge.
I am very grateful for the funding received from BMBF and for the substantial support provided by the Projektträger Jülich, DLR Projektträger and the Central Asian Sustainable Innovation Bureau. I also would like to acknowledge the entire team who contributed to this project, as well as our partners and collaborators in Kazakhstan. Last but not least, many thanks to the colleagues from adelphi for their valuable support provided and for moderating the CLIENT II Conference 2024 in Berlin.
