Process analysis concerning the water management for a company specialized in cleaning transport containers
Subject
A company, which is situated in Lviv (Ukraine) and specialized in cleaning transport containers, also operates an oil refinery at the same location. The containers to be cleaned are used for the transportation of food (milk, edible oil, juice, vinegar), industrial chemicals (formalin, amino resins) and fuels. Hence, the wastewater is mainly characterised by remaining container contents and cleaning detergents. The included car wash holds only a minor contribution to the emerging wastewater of the company.
An existing wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) is just partly operational and furthermore, an expansion of production is planned. Due to these facts, a change in treatment capacity and configuration is indispensable.
The aim of this work is to conduct a process analysis concerning the water management of the company and to create a solid base for an adequate design of a new/modified WWTP. The process analysis covers the current system technology, the description of the cleaning process and the quantitative and qualitative description of the partial currents. This also includes an overview of vehicles to be cleaned, used chemicals as well as an evaluation of available data.
