Collective Dynamics of Particles Colliding with Each Other on a Surface Exposed to a Turbulent Flow
We are pleased to welcome Christophe Henry from the Calisto team at Université Côte d’Azur, Inria, and CNRS in Sophia Antipolis, France, who will give a talk on the collective dynamics of particles in turbulent flow. This is a great opportunity to learn about his work, exchange ideas, and discuss the topic with him in person.
This work investigates the collective motion of particles sliding on a surface exposed to a turbulent flow. Numerical simulations are performed using data from direct numerical simulations, considering different levels of complexity in particle collision models, ranging from matched collisions to collisionless particles. Comparing these models helps shed light on how collision modelling influences collective motion. Extensions to spheroidal particles will also be briefly presented.
