Successful 1st Dresden Public Traffic Symposium 29. und 30. October 2019
On 29 and 30 October 2019, the first Dresden public transport symposium took place successfully. Representatives of research and development as well as the operation of the public transport met in this symposium to discuss current trends, technologies and research approaches, in order to ensure a comprehensive mobility and at the same time to discuss significant solutions to reduce traffic-related pollution.
The demands for short travel times, high comfort, low-emission and cost-efficient operation with maximum flexibility in terms of time and space for the passengers require innovative technologies. These include, in particular, the electrification and automation of public transport vehicles and their interconnection both with each other and with the operational and transport infrastructure. The symposium was supplemented by contributions with "hands on" character to current research projects of the Technical University of Dresden and its partners such as the projects ABSOLUT for highly automated driving in the public transport of the city of Leipzig, QLSA for the networking and quality preferential priority of public transport to traffic lights, EKE public transport for the energy and resource optimal design of electric bus lines and their charging infrastructure.
Inspired by the lectures presented, the representatives of the various professional disciplines were able to discuss identified problems and challenges of the mobility of tomorrow and to shed light on them from different perspectives. The symposium has thus successfully fulfilled its goal of promoting solutions for such a multifaceted technical and socio-economic system as public transport, and laid the foundations for further public transport symposia in the coming years to continue to facilitate this platform for exchange.
