Research at the Faculty of Transportation and Traffic Sciences "Friedrich List" is a central component of our academic offerings.
Research is conducted at 7 institutes and 20 chairs with the support of more than 250 scientists. The specializations of the professorships open up opportunities for cooperation with numerous research institutions within and outside the TUD.

Research Environment

A large number of technically high-end research laboratories, such as for driving and flight simulation, traffic management, vehicle construction, railway operation, rail energy supply or for traffic safety, provide an optimal basis for research and practical training of students.

The Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences "Friedrich List" is the largest academic competence center in the field of transport sciences in Germany. The research results are published in various forms, which enables an active exchange of knowledge and international top research.

Grants and Scholar­ships

Professorships and research teams of the faculty are involved in a large number of research projects and networks. Data bank such as Research Connect are also available for TUD students and researchers. The database allows you to search by subject area, organizational form or qualification level.

Transport Sciences Research at TU DRESDEN

In seven institutes, a wide spectrum of current transport and mobility problems are investigated:  from the different aspects related to traditional and recently developed transport modes, their infrastructure design, control and information systems to transversal topics related to transport like city planning, transport economics, environmental protection and sustainable development. The research ecosystem at the faculty is organized by transport modes and by interdisciplinary topics crossing all of them.
