TUD Professorship Vehicle Mechatronics Receives New Measuring Vehicle
On June 7, 2018, the Chair of Vehicle Mechatronics at the Institute of Automotive Engineering Dresden (IAD) of the Faculty of Traffic Sciences "Friedrich List" of the TU Dresden were handed over a current S-Class from the Daimler AG from Stuttgart.
The S-Class, equipped with a modern 48V-Mild-Hybrid powertrain, will soon be on test drives in Dresden and surroundings. As part of a research cooperation between Daimler AG and the Chair of Vehicle Mechatronics, various aspects of the driver-vehicle interaction with regard to energy efficiency are being researched and further developed. The measuring vehicle can be used to collect and evaluate important information from real test drives for this research work.
The "Energy" as research subject has long been a core topic of vehicle mechatronics at the Institute of Automotive Engineering Dresden. Already existing vehicles from the fleet of the professorship collect different data and transmit these via mobile radio into a special research cloud.
The test drives with the new vehicle take place on representative test tracks in Dresden and its surroundings. The vehicle is equipped with special measurement and sensor technology, which enables data acquisition in the vehicle and online transmission and storage in a cloud.
