Acoustic Roller Dynamometer
Table of contents
Functional Description
A chassis dynamometer with an airstream blower is being developed at the Fahrzeugtechnisches Versuchszentrum of the IAD for complete vehicle tests in the field of interior noise. The test bench has four apex rolls with an installed drive power of approximately 230 kW per axle. Passenger cars and light commercial vehicles of categories M1, M1G und N1 with a maximum total mass of 3,500 kg can be used as test specimens.
The testing room is designed as a low-reflection half-room with a soundproof floor and acoustic cladding on the walls. In combination with the mounting of the test bench on a vibration foundation, this allows measurements in a range from 100 up to 6,000 Hz and reduces the sound pressure level caused by the operation of the test bench to less than 50 dB(A) at a simulated speed of 100 km/h.
Investigation Opportunities
- interior vehicle noises
- investigations in the field of sound design
- standardized driving cycles (e.g. WLTP, US06, FTP75)
- vibration tests
- identification of structure-borne sound transmission paths
