Pre-development with the static driving simulator
The development of the highly immersive driving simulator is progressing steadily. At the same time, an existing static driving simulator has been upgraded over the past few months and has already been used in initial studies with test subjects. It is already apparent what a sensible and necessary symbiosis these two driving simulators form.
On the one hand, the static driving simulator serves as a pre-development tool for the conception and design of components of the dynamic driving simulator. It is already possible to test isolated hardware and, above all, software components and to research them in test person studies.
On the other hand, the static driving simulator will later serve as a useful setup tool to prepare study content in the best possible way. The setup of the virtual world, the application of ADAS functionalities as well as the testing of the scenario robustness etc. can be carried out in the context of a frontloading on the static system. Once these prerequisites have been completed, a test person study can start after transferring on the dynamic driving simulator. The requirement for this is the highest possible use of common parts, which involves a high degree of modularity, especially in the simulation environment.
