Visualisation of the virtual world with DomeProjection
The photos of the static driving simulator show the clear difference between the unprocessed individual images and the images corrected with warping and blending, using our past tests with Unreal Engine 4 as an example.
Projection System
For the preliminary development of the simulation environment of the highly immersive driving simulator, various software solutions, e.g. for visualising the virtual world, are being tested on our static driving simulator. With the 3-channel projection system, the external representation can be displayed on a 170° projection screen, so that test persons in the driving simulator get the feeling of a real scene.
The challenge in generating the continous projection of the originally unprocessed individual images is first of all the correct calibration of the projection screen and the subsequent derivation of the required correction files. For this so-called warping and blending we use the experience and support of the company domeprojection.com® GmbH with their ProjectionTools software suite (Align, Mapper3d, nWarp).
