Professor Dr. Binbin Liu has been Full Professor and Chair of Rail Vehicles at TU Dresden since 2025. His research focuses on rail vehicle dynamics, wheel–rail contact mechanics, wear and rolling contact fatigue of wheels and rails, and active and semi-active suspension systems. He is Associate Editor of Vehicle System Dynamics and a member of the Leadership Committee of the International Collaborative Research Initiative (ICRI) on Rolling Contact Fatigue and Wear of Rails and Wheels. He has also served on the Scientific Committee for the 28th and 29th IAVSD Symposia. He received his Ph.D. cum laude (2016) from Politecnico di Milano in Italy, where his research focused on rail vehicle dynamics and wheel–rail contact using full-scale roller rigs. He subsequently held academic positions ranging from postdoctoral researcher to Associate Professor. He earned his B.Sc. (2007) and M.Sc. (2010) degrees from Southwest Jiaotong University in China. His career includes extensive international academic and industrial experience, with visiting research appointments at TU Dresden and the University of Salford, as well as professional work as an engineer at the China Academy of Railway Sciences.
