News from the Railway Operations Laboratory
In the railway operations laboratory, the practical courses will be supplemented by seminars introducing various aspects of railway operations from the winter semester 2022/2023. The aim of the new seminars is a more targeted focus on the learning objectives of the subsequent practical courses. The contents are no longer explained in the seminar room, but in small groups of 4-6 people directly in the laboratory, so that the lecture can be combined directly with practical demonstrations on the laboratory equipment.
The conversion of the former LZB line between Neustadt and Waldhof to ETCS Level 2 without signals has also been completed. With that, it is possible to demonstrate ETCS from the point of view of the interlocking and from the locomotive driver's point of view in the laboratory practicals and seminars. The system is designed so that participants can drive interactively and actively explore the system behaviour of ETCS Level 2.
