The Public Transport Authority of the Central Bohemian Region (IDSK) and TU Dresden are expanding their cooperation in public transport. Under a four-year framework agreement, the Chair of Public Transport will provide specialist analyses and decision-making support.
TU Dresden’s experts will advise on route network design, public transport priority measures, alternative propulsion technologies and infrastructure planning. The maximum contract value is CZK 2.99 million excluding VAT.
The first projects are already under way. TU Dresden is developing a concept for bus priority measures on the Prague–Kutná Hora corridor. It is also comparing suitable propulsion technologies for the buses operating on the affected routes. The work supports the planned gradual transition of regional bus transport to zero-emission operation.
Through the cooperation, IDSK aims to include an international perspective in selected transport projects. TU Dresden combines specialist expertise with knowledge of the Czech transport environment.
The cooperation builds on a 2023 study of the Prague–Vrané nad Vltavou–Dobříš railway line. The study examined possible changes to the infrastructure and operating concept, including a tram-train option.
In future, students are also expected to work on specific questions through bachelor’s and master’s theses. The individual topics and scope will be defined gradually.
