Excursion to the Berlin subway

After arriving with the IC from Dresden, first a visit of the current operation on the line U55, which operates as a first stage of the extension of the underground line U5 in operation in island operation. Subsequently, the latest developments in the Berlin SPNV and innovative projects of the BVG were presented on the premises of the BVG at Alexanderplatz. On we went to Friedrichsfelde, where the modern control center for the subway network and the workshop for the vehicles of the large-profile lines U5, U8 and U9 were visited. At the end of the day we went back to the center to the current construction site of the extension of the U5 directly in front of the red town hall. Following the construction of a preliminary construction project over 80 years ago, the new Red Town Hall station will be built here.
