Prof. Dr.-Ing. Duo Liu takes over the leadership of the Chair of Railways

Dr.-Ing. Duo Liu has been appointed Head of the Chair of Railway Track Engineering as of April 1, 2024.

The new appointees will focus more strongly on the topics of superstructure and track technology. This is also reflected in the new name of the Chair (formerly Chair of Planning and Design of Railway Infrastructure).

Prof. Liu completed his doctorate at the Chair and Testing Office for Traffic Route Construction at the Technical University of Munich with a focus on the interaction of railroad vehicles and track. He then worked for 8 years as a researcher and developer at Vossloh - the world's leading railroad infrastructure company and at Konux GmbH - the first AI/IoT company for railroad switches.

His current and future core research areas are the digitization of railroads using digital twins and the application and further development of big data management for various engineering aspects of track superstructure and track technology.

The Chair of Rail Track Engineering currently comprises and will continue to comprise the departments of "Superstructure and Track Engineering", "Planning and Design of Railway Systems" and the Railway Construction Laboratory.
