History
The College for Transport Studies (HfV) was founded in 1952. The training of the students in safety systems in the field of safety and telecommunications technology started in 1954. At the beginning, the training based at a basic study of Electrical Engineering. That was the result of emerging development of the relay technology in this period.
At the integration of the traffic related parts of the HfV into the "Friedrich List" Faculty for Transport Studies at the Technische Universität Dresden in 1992 was the Chair of Railway Signalling and Transport Safety Systems a component of the Institute for Traffic Information Systems. Since then the training based no longer at a basic study of Electrical Engineering but Transport Engineering.
As a founding member of Institute of Railway Systems and Public Transport the Chair is integrated in a structure of all modes of transport since 2006. In addition to the training of Traffic Engineers the Chair starts in autumn 2008 the training of Rail System Engineers as well.
